Today I finally got some time to sit down and write on my blog.
I continue my hunt for the best thesis, and I thought I'd list some of the things I think about when I try to weigh my options, in no particular order.
-
- What will I have to learn?
-
- What do I already know?
-
- What would I like to learn?
-
- What do I own after I'm done?
-
- What would I like to/could I keep working on after I'm done?
-
- Will anyone else keep using what I make?
-
- Does it pay anything during the thesis?
-
- Is there a chance of employment after the thesis?
-
- Is there a position for research after the thesis?
-
- What does these positions pay?
-
- How's the atmosphere at the workplace?
-
- What of this can I use in game programming? That's some of the things I think about I think about the position offers I've got. The best idea yet is this kind of computer programming game which I could do at the school. That would be cool. I could totally keep working on that, unfortunately not at school and that particular topic wouldn't open up for becoming a PhD student either. Today however I had some discussions about multicore research and that's always an interesting area, even though it's not particularly game focused. I guess what I really want to be is a game dev researcher.
