The Xbox One was just announced and this post is just a little rant so summarize my thoughts on it.
-
- Way too much focus on TV. I bet you all 99% of those features won't be available outside the US, so I just can't care about it.
-
- The "instant" switching between TV, music and gaming just isn't note worthy when you ave 8 GB of RAM. My PC does that all the time.
-
- The specs wasn't really revealing. Did they even mention it's x86? I don't think so, but I remember hearing 64 bit.
-
- It looks really sleek and clean actually. But then again so did HAL.
-
- They didn't address the "always on" issue, it seems like the Kinect is spying on you all the time though.
-
- The fact that they make their servers usable by game makers seems neat, I hope that means we can load more computations onto the cloud as the system gets older and older. This could be what makes cloud gaming a real thing, assuming internet connections can keep up.
-
- I wanted to know more about the new Kinect, what resolution does its depth sensor have? The depth example looked very noisy.
-
- I couldn't care less about EA and whatnot talking about engines being better than before, that's not new.
-
- "Three OSs", just in case the first one doesn't crash... That's all for now. I'm still more excited about the PS4.
